Hug to Heal for Our Mothers

Jazmin Venegaz-Padilla

Mother’s Day holds a special place in our hearts because of everything our mothers have done for us. Our mothers are beautiful and selfless yet strong. But, due to the pandemic, many of us have not been able to see our family and celebrate Mother’s Day together. Nature is also our mother. So, let’s heal together by hugging both our mothers and nature.

Studies have proved that hugging a tree increases levels of the hormone oxytocin, which provides a feeling of calm and a sense of emotional bonding. When you hug a tree, the hormones serotonin and dopamine make you feel happier.

So hug your mother, and hug a tree for Mother's Day.
